SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Two separate fires were reported across the Salt Lake Valley overnight.
The first was in an abandoned warehouse in Murray. Flames could be seen for miles late into the night as firefighters took a defensive approach against the blaze.
It happened at the old Fountain of Youth building off I-15 near 4500 South.
The fire raged for several hours, but crews were finally able to put it out. Fire officials said it took longer because they didn’t go inside the building to fight it, keeping their fight outside.
Authorities said there was no one inside. No injuries were reported.
There have been fires at the warehouse before. An investigation is now underway, and officials said it’s too soon to know whether the fires are connected or whether this one is suspicious.
In West Valley City, another fire destroyed a motorhome.
The incident happened in the area of 3000 West and 2100 South.
A person living inside the motorhome was able to escape, authorities said.
The fire spread to nearby trees, but it was put out before it could spread farther. Firefighters said it caused between $50,000 – $75,000 in damages.
