Police Seek Additional Videos, Images Of Alleged Flasher In South Jordan

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – Police on Monday were seeking additional victims as well as better video and image sources in hopes of arresting a man suspected of flashing several children.
South Jordan Police Lt. Matt Pennington said the same suspect is now believed to be connected to at least six flashing cases dating back to February.
“Just as recently as last week we got some information to help us identify this individual,” Pennington said. “We’ve got a lot of video from far away that shows the truck, but he’s not identifiable — so if anybody can identify him, who knows who he is or has video of him driving that is very clear, we would appreciate they reach out to us so we can hold him accountable for that behavior.”
According to Pennington, all the known cases have happened between 4 – 6 p.m. either in the area of 9800 South and 2700 West or in the Daybreak development and have targeted pre-teen and young teenage girls.
Surveillance images and video have shown the suspect driving a white, four-door, Chevy Colorado pickup truck.
“To think that he hasn’t been doing it frequently is, I think, negligent,” Pennington said. “Clearly he’s probably been offending other places and it’s not being reported.”
Patricia, a parent who requested her last name not be used for fear of her family’s security, said her daughter and a friend were riding on their bicycles on May 26 when the truck pulled up on their street.
“The male exited, came to the front of the vehicle, pulled down his pants,” the woman said. “… He yelled, ‘Hey,’ they looked and saw what they saw, and they jetted away from the situation and he took off.”
The mother said that was one of three known encounters children on her street have had with the suspect, who police said seemed to ramp up his activity in June and July.
She said she worried now that school was starting that more children would potentially be at risk.
“That’s what makes it scary,” Patricia said.
She and police hoped somebody out there knows the suspect or has seen him and can help South Jordan Police Department make an arrest.
“I just feel like this person has got to be caught,” Patricia said. “It’s very, very upsetting.”
