Students Return To Class After Last Week’s School Shooting In Idaho

RIGBY, Idaho – Students in the small town of Rigby, Idaho returned to school for the first time since last week’s shootings sent two students and a custodian to the hospital.
Schools closed Friday and Monday following the incident at Rigby Middle School.
A sixth-grade student pulled a handgun out of her backpack Thursday and fired several shots in the hallway and then outside.
Two students and a custodian were hit. Police said a teacher managed to get the gun away from her and held her until law enforcement arrived.
None of the injuries was life-threatening.
Parents and members from the community and surrounding towns all greeted the kids as they walked into the school Tuesday morning.

Parent Tiffany Clifford said, “I have a daughter that goes here and she’s a little anxious this morning, so I just want them to feel as good as possible to go to school today.”
As the sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students arrived they saw encouraging messages on signs, posters, and chalk art.
In addition, each student received a note and pat on the back to reassure them that they were loved and safe.
