Layton man reported missing

LAYTON, Utah — Police are searching for Ryan Kelly, a 45-year-old Layton man who has been missing since Friday.

Kelly is 5-foot-11 and weighs about 185 pounds with an athletic build and blue eyes. Kelly is bald but has salt and pepper facial hair. He is believed to be wearing black joggers, a black jacket, a RAGNAR volunteer beanie. He doesn’t have glasses or tattoos but does have a wedding ring and a diamond earring in his left ear.

Kelly was driving a maroon/red 2008 Chevy Tahoe with plate number W42 2VM.

Police said detectives have been assigned to the case, but unfortunately, they don’t know the last location Kelly was before he went missing.

Kelly’s family believes Ryan Kelly’s car might be parked at a trailhead.

“There’s a lot of places that he could be. I can’t think of one special place that he would be at,” said his wife Lisa Kelly. She added that it’s very likely he is alive and safe out there somewhere, “He’s a survivalist, he is. He can be out there with very minimal supplies and be okay. I do believe that he’s a very strong person.”

According to police, there’s “nothing suspicious, but we’re definitely concerned about Ryan and his mental health — we want to touch base with him and make sure he’s okay.”

Lisa and her sister Jessica Johnson shared the same worry. “We’re worried for his personal safety,” Johnson said.

They told KSL that Kelly came back to his Layton home Friday, before leaving. He took only a deactivated phone that he uses for music, a blanket, and his Tahoe.

“So, we’re just hoping if anyone goes hiking to look out for the car or the Tahoe. Just let the police know if you see the vehicle anywhere,” Johnson said.

“Please come home. We love you. We miss you and want to take care of you,” his wife said. “We’re here for you. We’re praying for you. You are not alone. We are going to help you when you get here. Just please come back to us.”

Lisa and Jessica say Ryan is loved by so many people who have reached out to help.

They’ve both known him a long time since they moved in next door to Ryan when they were children.

“I think I was 2-years-old when we moved into the house next door to him and he’s basically my older brother,” his sister-in-law said.

Anyone with information should contact Layton police.
