Summit County SAR locate missing snowmobiler over holiday weekend

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — It was a busy holiday weekend for Summit County Search and Rescue.
Around 3:15 p.m. Friday, the agency was notified about a missing snowmobiler in the Whitney Reservoir area.
“The complainant was becoming concerned due to length of time that had passed and with the storm approaching,” read their Facebook post.
Teams spent most of the night searching for the individual in white out conditions, but were unsuccessful.
After resting and warming up for a few hours, they continued their search early Christmas morning.
Officials said the missing snowmobiler was found later that morning “cold and tired with injuries common with being exposed to cold weather.”
Fortunately, team members reunited with their families later that day to enjoy the rest of the Christmas holiday.
The team was also called out Sunday by South Summit EMS to help with a backcountry medical incident in Weber Canyon.
