Gas leak in downtown Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY— Salt Lake City Police reported a natural gas leak in the area near 1000 East South Temple Street. The cause of the leak is unknown but it may be related to some of the construction in that area. Traffic was stopped at 900 East and 1100 East near South Temple Street.
According to SLC Detective Stewart they’re “right in the thick” of the investigation and she can’t confirm anything right now, but when they have a better idea of what they’re looking at she’ll tweet out an update.

Police announced the leak had been contained around 1 p.m. Thursday and traffic had reopened.
