Series of storms bringing snow, strong winds to northern Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — A series of storms is set to roll into northern Utah beginning Tuesday, and some valleys could see several inches of fresh snow.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Wasatch Back, Cache Valley and parts of the Wasatch Front that lasts through Thursday morning.
“Accumulating snow chances (Tuesday) will be focused on areas from Layton north and mainly over Weber and Cache counties into the Wasatch Back,” said KSL meteorologist Kristen Van Dyke.

Meteorologists expect widespread rain and snow across the northern part of the state before a relative lull Tuesday night.
High winds have also been reported near the Utah-Idaho border, with gusts reaching 55 mph. Those winds could produce whiteout conditions with blowing snow near Logan and Sardine summits.
However, the next storm arrives early Wednesday and could impact the morning commute.
“The snow will result in periods of travel difficulties, particularly for southwest Wyoming, the mountains of northern Utah and valleys near the Utah-Idaho border,” officials with the National Weather Service said. “Travel could be difficult along the Wasatch Front during the Wednesday morning commute.”

Between Tuesday and Thursday, Logan could see between 7″ and 12″ of snow, while Park City will see between 12″ and 18″.
Provo could receive up to 7″ of snow while Salt Lake City could get an additional 1″ to 3″.
