CEDAR CITY, Utah — The roads to and through Cedar Breaks National Monument in Iron County are reopening Thursday morning, according to the National Park Service.

“Due to a limited snowpack, and thanks to the hard work of the Utah Department of Transportation crews, the roads are opening sooner than usual,” stated a NPS press release.

People have been advised to use caution when visiting the park during the early spring months “as snow and ice patches still cover many paths and overlooks.”

NPS officials said park crews are working to clear trails as soon as possible of any fallen trees and debris.

Beginning Friday, May 27, summer visitor services at the Temporary Information Center, including the Zion Forever Project park store, will resume.

Park officials encouraged visitors, before their trip, to check out the 2022 Visitor Guide webpage for the most up-to-date information.

In 2021, construction began on the new Cedar Breaks Visitor Contact Station.

“This new facility will serve an increasing number of visitors to the park through an expanded indoor contact space, exhibits, and park store, new restroom facility, and sheltered outdoor space for public programming,” stated the release.

Due to the construction, which is expected to continue through 2022, the Point Supreme Overlook is closed to all public access.

“A portion of the parking lot has been closed for construction activities, though a limited number of spots remain at the South Rim Trailhead. Overflow parking is available at the Temporary Information Center across the street,” concluded the release.
