Sen. Gene Davis suspended on sexual harassment claims

SALT LAKE CITY — Sen. Gene Davis, D-Salt Lake City, has been temporarily suspended from all Salt Lake County Democratic Party events, committees and any party-related activity due to allegations of an intern.
The intern submitted a complaint about Davis’ behavior alleging that he had sexually harassed them.

Eva Lopez, chair of the Salt Lake County Democratic Party, released in part, the following statement: “In order to comply as my duty as Chair, I wield my powers as granted in our Anti-Harassment Policy that states, “[this] policy does not limit our authority to discipline or take remedial action for conduct that the Party determines to be unacceptable, regardless of whether that conduct meets the definition of harassment” and temporarily suspend Senator Gene Davis from participating in Salt Lake County Democratic Party events, committees, and any party-related activity.
Davis has been serving in Salt Lake City’s District 3 since 1999.
