SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah father and his son pleaded guilty Thursday for their actions in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Federal agents arrested Bradley James Bokoski, 58, of Eagle Mountain in May. His son, Matthew Bokoski, was arrested in Chicago where he lives, KSL.com reported.

Court documents said both men admitted they were in Washington, D.C. to attend the Stop the Steal rally. Investigators determined they were inside the Capitol building for approximately five minutes.

Matthew Bokoski told interviewing FBI agents the Jan. 6, 2021 rally was effective because the participants were able to “shut down” the government. He also posted a comment about the day stating, “I was with my dad and walked right up the capital steps and inside with others” according to the FBI’s criminal complaint and arrest warrant.

That document listed three other offenses that were dropped in the plea agreement. The document also included images of the men at the Capitol during the riot. Matthew Bokoski was draped in a “Trump 2020” flag that he wore as a cape. He also used his phone to record rioters inside the office of the Senate Parliamentarian, according to documents, that he posted on his Facebook page.

A tipster told investigators that Matthew Bokoski had posted online about his actions on Facebook and Kik, according to the KSL.com report. The tipster reported that Matthew Bokoski posted that he and his father Bradley were in the Capitol that day.

Both pleaded guilty to parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.

They face up to six months in prison. A judge scheduled sentencing for Jan. 17, 2023 in Washington D.C.  Many of those who have pleaded guilty to similar offenses for actions in the Jan. 6 insurrection have been given probation. The two were not charged with vandalism or destruction of property and are not in custody.

Ten Utahns have been charged in connection to Jan. 6. Seven have pleaded guilty.
