Pictures A Popular Hobby During St. George Snowstorm

ST. GEORGE, Utah – Christmas comes every year to St. George. However, St. George rarely looks like Christmas.
“It’s really different,” said 9-year old Paizlee Reed.
Reed has always wondered what a real snowstorm looks like. Thursday, she finally saw one.
“I don’t know. It’s just like, I don’t know how to explain it,” she said.
So, when she woke up Thursday morning and saw snow, the first thing she thought was to grab her favorite gift from this past Christmas.
“The pictures are, like, really beautiful and you get to go and take the pictures of whatever you want,” she said while taking pictures of the snow with her new camera.
The one place she really wanted to go was to the St. George Temple.
She has plenty of pictures of it when it’s nice outside.
However, this was the first time she was getting pictures of the temple in snow.
“Because we don’t get a lot of winter,” said Paizlee.
She also noticed how the slow-falling, soft snow made the temple look different.
“It’s like, it’s more pure,” she said.
Paizlee’s mother says her daughter has always had a knack for taking pictures.
“She actually would go up to her Grandma’s house and she has a really nice camera and she’d always ask to use it,” said Rachelle Reed. “She just had an eye for it, so we bought her a camera for Christmas.”
Since Washington County School District administrators delayed classes two hours this morning, Rachelle figured why not just take the whole day off for pictures.
“I made the choice to have her stay home and brought her up here,” said Rachelle.
Paizlee has plenty of years ahead of her in classrooms.
However, today’s lesson is rare.
Snow just doesn’t happen often in St. George.
“It’s something different than math and reading,” said Paizlee.
It’s also something the family will never forget.
“Making memories,” said Rachelle with a smile.
