TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — Police officers were punched in the face during a confrontation in Taylorsville and the exchange landed two adults in jail and two others in juvenile detention.
Unified Police were responding to an active domestic dispute Monday night and ended up handcuffing six different people.
Officers arrived at the home near Bangerter Highway and 5400 south around 11 p.m. A 14-year-old victim and his 18-year-old brother were fighting over cell phones and ear buds.
Three officers were assaulted while attempting to resolve the dispute. Tazers and pepper spray were used to subdue the older brother and another family member.
Officers from five different police departments ended up responding to the scene.
“They didn’t comply with officers’ commands, because they were told multiple times… ‘stop fighting, get back,’ and they continued to fight and assault the officers,” said UPD Lieutenant Paul Barker.
Fortunately, none of the officers were injured during the fight.
