The NWS on Monday issued a hard freeze warning for Cache, Sanpete and Sevier Valleys as well as Logan, Duchesne, Roosevelt, Manti, Richfield, Delta, Fillmore and Cedar City. The warning is in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
In the Wasatch Mountain Valleys, including Park City and Heber City, the hard freeze warning will be in effect until 10 a.m. Monday.
Residents should be prepared for sub-freezing temperatures in the mid to upper 20s.
“Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” according to the NWS.
The National Weather Service recommends protecting tender plants from the cold and wrap and drain outdoor pipes to keep them from freezing and bursting.
“Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing,” the NWS states.
