Missionary From Bountiful Killed After Being Hit By Car In Georgia

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A missionary from Bountiful died Saturday after he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bike, according to a spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Elder McKay Bergeson, age 19, was serving in the Tennessee Knoxville mission. The incident happened in LaFayette, Georgia. His companion was not injured.
“We express our sympathy and heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones as they mourn his passing and remember his life,” according to Church spokesman Daniel Woodruff. “We pray they feel the love of our Heavenly Father at this difficult time.”
Police in Georgia are searching for the driver of the vehicle.
Bergeson had been serving since December 2019.
