One Dead, One In Critical Condition Following Mountain View Corridor Crash

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A 22-year-old Magna woman has died from her injuries following a crash at the intersection of 5400 South and Mountain View Corridor.
The incident happened just before 6 p.m. Sunday.
A compact car was traveling westbound on 5400 South when officials believe it ran a red light. The vehicle was then struck on the passenger side by a pickup truck heading southbound on Mountain View Corridor.

West Valley Police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said the two occupants in the compact car — a 20-year-old male and a 22-year-old female — were transported to the hospital in “extremely critical condition.”
The three passengers in the pickup truck were not injured.
The intersection was closed in the southbound, eastbound and westbound directions for a few hours, but the northbound lanes remained open.
On Monday morning, officials said 22-year-old Katey Darling had passed away, while the 20-year-old male driver remained in critical condition.
