MAPLETON, Utah — Firefighters say a partially built home was destroyed in a fire early Wednesday morning.
Officials with the Mapleton Fire Department said crews arrived at the home, located near South Pond Circle and Nemalka Lane, within minutes.
The vacant structure was fully engulfed, and firefighters from Springville and Spanish Fork were called in to assist.
Due to a partial structure collapse and the fire’s advanced progress, firefighters were forced to initiate a defensive attack — meaning the structure was unsafe for firefighters to enter and crews battled flames from the outside of the structure.
Crews said the home is a total loss, and the fire is under investigation.
No injuries were reported but firefighters said one nearby home was temporarily evacuated.
