Warriors Over the Wasatch air show coming this weekend

HILL AIR FORCE BASE – Aircraft of all sizes will take to the skies above Hill Air Force Base this weekend for the 2018 Warriors Over the Wasatch Air and Space Show.
Returning for an encore of 2016 the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds team will perform along with 15 other world-famous performers. On the ground, dozens of static aircraft will be on display for up-close inspection and hands-on interaction. And new this year a 22,000 square foot hanger has been designated “STEM City”, where kids can experience first-hand where an education in science, technology, engineering and math can take them.
The 2-day event draws roughly half a million spectators to the base which can mean a traffic nightmare. UDOT, the UTA and HAFB are all asking the public to take mass transit to the show. It’s likely the fastest and easiest option.
A special, $5 round-trip ticket is available for air show attendees on UTA’s GoRide mobile app. That fare is good on Frontrunner, TRAX, bus and the S-Line.
Families can purchase group passes for up to four riders for $15. Group passes can be bought at UTA ticket machines and online, not through the mobile app.
Extra trains and buses will be in service for both days of the show.
From the Clearfield Frontrunner station, special UTA buses will take patrons directly to the flight line.
Spectators wishing to drive to the show will only be allowed to enter the base hrough the Roy Gate, exit 338, and the West Gate, exit 335. Parking is extremely limited on base. Several off-base parking areas are available and buses will shuttle the public on base from those lots.
Handicap only access to the base is through the South Gate on Hill Field Road.
Gates open at 8 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The show begins at 10 a.m.
Security is a top priority during the show and bags will be screened.
