SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It was not the ending husband and wife, Tyce Nielsen and Mary Ellen Wolfe, planned during their performance on Tuesday night’s episode of “America’s Got Talent.” The Utah trapeze act, Duo Transcend, performed a blindfolded stunt for the audience where Nielsen attempted to catch Wolfe.

Wolfe fell from her husband’s grip, but she was unharmed, landing on a padded landing below.

The two say their professional relationship is based on trust, something they have built in their seven years of marriage.

Their choice to work with each other has never been a regret.

“It has its challenges,” Nielsen said. “We are with each other a lot, but it’s something that has brought us closer together.”

“If for whatever reason Tyce couldn’t be my trapeze partner anymore, I’m pretty sure I would just retire from trapeze, because I wouldn’t want to do with anyone else but him,” she said. “It takes a long time to build that trust.”

The two decided to enter the nationally televised competition this season after contemplating the decision for years.

“In the beginning, we’ve felt like we weren’t in a place where we felt strong in our trapeze act,” Nielsen said. “We felt like this was the year for us to give it a shot because we finally felt strong in how our performance was looking.”

The two made it past the first and second rounds, wowing the judges with both performances.

“The judges said really great things about our act, particularly Simon,” Nielsen said. “That was a big confidence boost for us. We’ve seen nothing but positive things since the first episode aired.”

Wolfe and Nielsen hope to eventually land a gig in Las Vegas, giving them a more stable show.

“It’s hard because we have a son, and we are constantly traveling around the world performing,” Wolfe said. “It would be amazing for our family to have a show in Las Vegas.”

“America’s Got Talent” airs on NBC Tuesday nights.
