Significant Winter Weather Expected Across Region

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Winter weather warnings and advisories have been issued across the Beehive State as the latest storm prepared to move through the area.
A Winter Weather Warning was issued by the National Weather Service for the Wasatch Mountains, western Uinta Mountains and Wasatch Plateau.
Forecasters expected 10 to 18 inches of snow in the mountain elevations, with wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the mountains of Southern Utah, with 6 to 10 inches of snow expected and wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour.
The weather was expected to start in the high elevations Monday evening and into the overnight hours Tuesday. KSL Meteorologist said snow was expected to start in the valleys Tuesday afternoon, bringing some snow to the roadways during the evening commute.
Much of the storm was expected overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning.

The state has enjoyed warmer temperatures in the 40s, though strong winds moved through the mountains and valleys much of Sunday and Monday.
Wind gusts as high as 83 miles per hour were recorded Sunday at Ogden Peak.
Clean-up efforts were underway in Tooele County after powerful winds whipped through the area. Trampolines were tossed through the air and power lines were snapped.
The strong winds knocked the power went out for several customers from Northern to Southern Utah. By 9 p.m. Monday, just 148 customers were still without power in parts of Vernal, West Valley City, Holladay, and Sugar House.
In anticipation of power outages, Rocky Mountain Power has reminded customers they can notify them of an outage by texting OUT to 759677. You can also text STAT to 759677 to check the status of an outage in your area.
