Water At More Than 1K Sandy City Homes Still Needs Testing

SANDY, Utah – Sandy City is asking for volunteers in response to a water contamination incident. In a Facebook post, city officials said they still have over 1,000 homes that need to be tested.
About a dozen volunteers showed up, got a brief training, and were sent in pairs to assigned zones to make contact with residents who have not yet had their tap water tested.
“We are going to have about six homes immediately that we are going to go test right now,” said volunteer Doug Austin. “If you are there at home, please open the door for us.”
Craig Mendenhall was another resident who showed up to volunteer, even though the contamination issue didn’t affect him directly.
“None of us live within the affected area,” he said. “But we could have been in the affected area, and I thought we could help out.”
Of the water gathered so far, only one home tested with unhealthy water.
Officials said the testing will continue until samples can be gathered from every home on the list.
