Student Arrested After Allegedly Telling Therapist Of School Shooting Plans

LEHI, Utah – Police have arrested a Skyridge High School Student after he reportedly confessed to his therapist a desire to engage in a school shooting.
According to arresting documents, the Lehi 18-year-old, met with a therapist Thursday and told her that he had fantasized about murdering people and had spent hours planning it out.
The therapist contacted authorities after the session, the report states.
Lehi Police Department officers were then dispatched to the high school to located the teen, but they were unable to find him. Dispatch was able to ping his cell phone, though, and police located him at his residence, according to the affidavit.
Skyridge Principal Joel Perkins sent an email to parents informing them of the investigation and arrest.
“After the police made the arrest, they determined there was no additional threat,” Perkins wrote. “Our students, faculty, and staff are all safe. We are so grateful to the Lehi Police Department for their quick resolution of the situation and for their professionalism in helping ensure the safety of our school community.”
The teen reportedly confessed to making plans to shoot up the school and was arrested for threat of terrorism, a second-degree felony.
