Brush And Grass Fire Burns More Than 700 Acres Near Leamington Pass

LEAMINGTON, Utah – A brush and grass fire has burned more than 700 acres near Leamington Pass, according to officials.
Kayli Yardley of Fish Lake National Forest said the fire started after a lightning storm. The dry conditions have provided a lot of fuel for the fire.
“It’s eating up a lot of fuel pretty quickly,” she said.
No one has been injured, and no structures are currently threatened, Yardley said.
It’s mostly farmland and ranches, in the area, Yardley said. “It’s more of a desert type of fire, not so much a forest fire, but it is running in very dry brush and grass.”
The fire has crossed from public lands to private land.
Yardley didn’t have an estimate on when the fire would be contained. We will update this story as we get more information.
