Better Business Bureau Warns Against Shopping At Online Retailer Nedi Store

Jul 23, 2019, 6:23 AM | Updated: Feb 7, 2023, 11:18 am

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Better Business Bureau has issued a warning to Utahns and the rest of the country: Don’t buy from the online retailer Nedi Store.

Nedi Store claims to be based out of Richfield but has an Ohio-based phone number. The business’s address in Richfield is actually the address of Motel 6 that’s listed for sale.

According to the BBB, the website may be advertising fake products on social media. The agency states multiple complaints have been lodged claiming people have purchased products they’ve never received from the retailer.

“Within the span of two weeks, BBB Serving Northern Nevada and Utah received 12 complaints and BBB Scam Tracker reports about Nedi Store — an average of almost a complaint a day,” according to a Better Business Bureau statement. “Consumers are purchasing from this company after seeing a social media ad, then spend around $44 on average and never receive their product.”

Consumer advocates say to always be wary of online stores. They advise shoppers to check for things like bad grammar, pressure to buy, items that appear to be permanently on sale, all of which could be signs that the site could be a scam.

“Bad grammar and misspelling simple words may indicate that a website was put up in a rush,” according to the BBB. “Legitimate businesses generally put time into their web content to make sure it is readable for their customers. Bad English could also suggest that a company claiming to be based in the U.S. is actually foreign-based.”

The BBB also encourages online shoppers to buy using a credit card, which offers more protection than debit, prepaid or gift cards.

“If you never receive your order, you can often dispute the charges with your credit card company,” according to the bureau.
