Latter-day Saint Mission President Dies While Serving In Philippines

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – One of the mission presidents for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints died Wednesday in the Philippines, according to Church spokesman Daniel Woodruff.
Bradley Wayne Kirk, of Clovis, California, was president of the Philippines Naga Mission. He had a stroke at his home Monday and was taken to the hospital where he later died. Kirk was 61.
“We call upon people of faith to join us in praying for the comfort and well-being of the Kirk family at this difficult time,” Woodruff wrote. “We also pray for the missionaries who will miss this wonderful and capable leader.”
Kirk and his wive, Shirley, had been serving since July. They have three children.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our father, husband, grandfather, brother, and uncle,” according to a statement from Kirk’s family. “We find comfort that he passed while doing what he loved — serving the Lord in a place dear to his heart amongst a people he loved, with his lifelong sweetheart by his side.”
According to the family, Kirk’s love for family, music, the outdoors and Jesus Christ will never be forgotten.
“We await the day of our joyful reunion,” his family wrote.
