Wife Of West Jordan Double Homicide Suspect Arrested

WEST JORDAN, Utah – The wife of a man accused of shooting and killing a West Jordan couple has been arrested after allegedly helping him escape, according to court documents.
Police said 29-year-old Sina Johnson was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail Monday night on felony charges of obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence.
Officers said Johnson “withheld the whereabouts of the homicide suspect and falsified her recounts of what occurred and her involvement.”

Sgt. J.C. Holt with the West Jordan Police Department said Johnson failed to tell them about her interactions with the suspect.
“She had been less than truthful with (investigators) on developments on the case, that she had been in contact with her husband, Albert, after, shortly before the homicide and afterward,” he said.
A probably cause affidavit said Sina Johnson destroyed evidence.
“We developed some information that led us to believe she destroyed some items of evidentiary value to the case,” Holt said.
Johnson also told police she had plans to go to Arizona in an interview prior to her arrest.
“(She) would not tell officers where she was going to be or how to get in touch with her there, and so then our officers began to worry about her being a flight risk,” Holt said.
Her husband, 31-year-old Albert Enoch Johnson, was wanted by police for questioning in connection to the deaths of Tony and Katherine Butterfield. The Butterfields were found dead inside their home with gunshot wounds on Saturday.
Holt said Albert Johnson has a criminal history in California. The Butterfields had no criminal history and did not appear to have any nefarious connection to the incident. Police said the couple were victims of a violent home invasion and attack.
Officials also said the Butterfields ran a landscaping business called Electric Blue Yard Service but did not say if Johnson was one of their employees.
“We do believe that the Butterfields were absolutely true victims in this,” Holt said. “They did not have any role in this. We do not believe there was any criminal activity on their part or anything like.”
Sina Johnson was being held without bail. Officers said they believed she would continue to help her husband if released.
