OGDEN, Utah — A man and woman have been arrested after officials said they tried to hit officers during a vehicle pursuit in Weber County.

The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. Sunday, beginning in the 400 block of 32nd Street in Ogden.

An officer with the Ogden City Police Department said he was attempting a traffic stop when the driver shut of the vehicle’s headlights and sped away, turning onto a dead-end street.

“The officer stopped his vehicle and the suspect driving the vehicle reversed directions, attempting to ram the police vehicle,” read the department’s press release.

The officer engaged in a pursuit, and called in backup.

The suspects were identified as 24-year-old Hunter Spencer Robinson and 23-year-old Susie Eberle.

Officials said Eberle threw a can of beer out the window and appeared to direct Robinson on where to go to avoid the police.

Officers attempted to spike the vehicle’s tires three times.

“The spiking was partially successful, flattening some of the vehicle’s tires, however, the suspect continued to flee,” read the press release.

The driver swerved several times during the spiking attempts to try and hit the officers deploying the strips. Officers said they had to run away quickly to avoid being hit.

No officers appeared to be injured.

A UHP trooper assisted in the pursuit, initiating a PIT maneuver which caused the vehicle to stop.

Eberle was arrested at the vehicle, but Robinson ran away.

Several officers took off after Robinson, eventually tackling him to the ground. He sustained minor scrapes and bruising from trying to resist officers.

Officers said they found “controlled substances and materials consistent with narcotics sales,” in the vehicle.

Robinson was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle, reckless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, and DUI, among others.

Eberle was arrested on several outstanding warrants, as well as obstruction of justice.

Officials said Robinson has an extensive criminal history “including narcotics possession and sales, domestic violence, burglary, and other crimes.”
