Firewatch: 9 Active Fires In Utah As Firework Use Becomes Legal In Some Areas

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Nine active wildfires were burning in Utah on Wednesday, according to Utah Fire Info.

Also on Wednesday, fireworks use in some areas of the state became legal and will remain so until 11 p.m. Saturday. However, it should be noted that fireworks and open fire restrictions are in place for many areas across Utah, including on any state forest land or BLM land.

On Wednesday, there were also multiple Red Flag Warnings in place for parts of Utah, Nevada, Idaho and Arizona.

Cause: Lightning

Howell Peak Fire

County: Millard

Start Date: July 19

Size: 700 acres

Contained: Unknown

Cause: Unknown

Big Summit Fire

County: Iron County

Start Date: July 13

Size: 8,461 acres

Contained: 62%

Cause: Unknown

Veyo West Fire

County: Washington

Start Date: July 13

Size: 2,809 acres

Contained: 95%

Cause: Human-caused, under investigation

Cottonwood Trail Fire

County: Washington

Start Date: July 19

Size: 1,631 acres

Contained: 90%

Cause: Human-caused, blown tire

Strawberry Fire
