More Utah Properties At Risk For Flooding

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – When you live in a desert state like Utah, flooding might not be top of mind when it comes to natural disasters, and rightly so.
Massive floods are few and far between here, but some recent FEMA data might be concerning for Utah homeowners.
Quote Wizard crunched some numbers from FEMA along with recent estimates, and it turns out there are tens of thousands of properties in Utah that were once thought safe but now may be in danger of flooding.
In fact, Utah had the highest increase — more than 400% — from what the site said were outdated maps to the newer figures.
So what does that mean for you as a homeowner or a renter?
You can buy a policy in Utah for an average annual cost of $638 that is issued through the National Flood Insurance Program.
Typical homeowner’s insurance does not cover flooding.
