Missing Farmington Woman With Dementia Found In ‘Good Condition’

FARMINGTON, Utah – The woman who went missing with her two dogs while on a hike in Davis County has been found alive and well.
Searchers found Laura Waldron, 54, just after 5 p.m. Thursday on the mountainside above Farmington.
She was alert and talking with rescuers who then transported her to the hospital where she was being treated for sunburn and dehydration.
Waldron’s brother told KSL over the phone that she was able to walk herself off the helicopter, and into the hospital.
Searchers in a Department of Public Safety helicopter spotted her near Hornet Creek.

Erik Bornemeir, commander of Davis County search and rescue said she was in an area that they previously covered a couple of times earlier in the day.
Both of her dogs were reported to be well too.
Two sheriff’s departments, multiple police departments, and more than 50 volunteers took part in the search.
“This is fabulous. This is what we all look for, it’s why we come to work every day,” said Farmington Police Chief Wayne Hansen. “And you know, oftentimes these turn out, end in a really tragic and sad way. So it feels good to be able to close the day out saying, ‘We got one for the team.’”
Waldron’s family told KSL’s Mike Anderson that they are very grateful for everyone who helped in the search.
After Waldron was rescued, search crews walked her dogs off the mountain.
Officials said Laura Waldron frequently hikes the mountain trails of east Farmington and frequents Lagoon Trail, Farmington Pond, and Woodland Park.
Family members became worried Wednesday when she didn’t return home. She has last been seen that morning.
Officials with the Farmington Police Department said they considered to be missing and endangered, prompting them to issue a Utah Silver Alert.
