Salvation Army volunteers prepare, deliver meals to people in Salt Lake area

SALT LAKE CITY — Volunteers with the Salvation Army put together and delivered a record number of meals to people around the community on Thanksgiving.
“We’ve always done around 800, but this year, we decided 1,000 was attainable, and we are ready to serve a thousand meals to the community,” said Capt. Rob Lawler, the Salvation Army Salt Lake City Corps Officer.
Volunteers have been collecting supplies for a few weeks, and on Thursday, they dropped them off to individuals and families around the Salt Lake area.
The meal included turkey and all the traditional sides.
And with 1,000 meals, it was the largest meal event in Salt Lake City.
