SALT LAKE CITY — Comedian Ryan Hamilton won’t be sharing laughs at Kingsbury Hall this weekend. The BYU graduate has rescheduled his shows after being hit by a shuttle bus as a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

In announcing the postponements, Hamilton explained what happened in a post to fans.

“I have a compound fractured arm that required surgery, seven broken ribs, and a punctured collapsed lung. I’m not able to fly until cleared by my doctors,” Hamilton said. “Fortunately, my mom was able to drive to be with me, and I am now headed to Idaho with her to recover around family. I’m so grateful to her and many friends for all their help.”

Hamilton, who is from Ashton, Idaho, is now scheduled to perform in Salt Lake City at Kingsbury Hall in June.

“I’m also grateful for my fans. I understand you may be disappointed, as I am, especially regarding Salt Lake City this weekend. I know you may have had tickets for close to two years and made plans that are difficult to change,” Hamilton continued. “Please know this is a huge blow to me, and I am very sorry for the effects it will have on all of you. I am working hard and looking forward to being back as soon as I can give you the show you deserve. Love, Ryan.”

Hamilton began his career by working in Salt Lake City clubs. He won “America’s Next Great Comic” in 2005 and embarked on a nationwide tour. Other accolades include winning “The Great American Comedy Festival” in 2011 and being a two-time semifinalist on “Last Comic Standing.”

Hamilton’s “Happy Face” comedy special is available on Netflix. He’s also made appearances on Comedy Central, Conan and Showtime — opening as well for Jerry Seinfeld on a tour in 2019.

According to his Facebook page, Hamilton was scheduled to perform three times in Salt Lake City this weekend. The third show was added after the first two sold out.
