WASHINGTON — Sen. Mitt Romney announced he would be supporting Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation to be an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, while Sen. Mike Lee announced he would vote against it.

Romney released the following statement Monday:

“After reviewing Judge Jackson’s record and testimony, I have concluded that she is a well-qualified jurist and a person of honor. While I do not expect to agree with every decision she may make on the Court, I believe that she more than meets the standard of excellence and integrity. I congratulate Judge Jackson on her expected confirmation and look forward to her continued service to our nation.”

Romney released the information just hours following Lee’s announcement that he would not be voting in support of Jackson’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.

Lee stated that “she didn’t answer basic questions and endorsed judicial activism. I will vote no.”

Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins have also announced their decisions to back Jackson, all but assuring that Jackson will be appointed to the Supreme Court.
