Teen injured in West Jordan drive-by shooting; 3 in custody

WEST JORDAN, Utah — A 17-year-old girl was injured in a drive-by shooting early Thursday morning and police say three teens were taken into custody.
Sgt. Sam Winkler with the West Jordan Police Department said officers responded to a home near 8200 South and 1640 West around 1 a.m.
Police said the girl was struck by multiple rounds in her lower extremities, and she was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Officers later located a potential suspect vehicle, which fled from police at a high rate of speed. Winkler said officers pursued the vehicle and eventually spiked its tires near 7100 West and state Route 201.
Three boys, ages 14, 16 and 17, were taken into custody, and investigators are working to determine if they were involved in the shooting.
Winkler said the home where the shooting occurred is a known gang house, and there have been at least two other shootings at the home before.
