Police searching for two cars involved in fatal Salt Lake City shooting

SALT LAKE CITY – Salt Lake City police have identified the victim of Sunday morning’s fatal shooting.
According to the Salt Lake City Police statement, 40-year-old Robert Barros was fatally shot after parking at the Taylor Gardens senior housing apartment complex on 1790 S West Temple around 11:44 a.m.
The shooting left residents terrified, with some running for cover.
“It was very frightening. It really scared the living you-know-what out of me,” said Anthony Zucca, who lives at Taylor Gardens.
Taylor Gardens is described online as a 55+ senior apartment community.
Zucca said he often hangs out at the front of the complex and sees the comings and goings. He was headed out there when he described hearing someone fire several shots in the parking lot, hitting Barros.
It caused Zucca, a Vietnam War veteran, to scramble for safety.
“And the next thing I know, I just had to turn back around and go back to my apartment because I didn’t want to get shot,” he recounted.
We are providing an update on this homicide investigation.
The victim is identified as 40-year-old Robert Barros.

Police believe that two suspects in one vehicle followed Barros as he drove his car into the parking lot.
“The victim got out of his car and was confronted by at least one other person in that second vehicle,” said Brent Weisberg, with Salt Lake City Police. “At that point, there was a fight here in the parking lot, which resulted in the shooting.”
After shooting Barros, police said the suspect hopped into Barros’ car and drove off, heading south on West Temple.
The suspect car also took off, the press release said, with the other person involved driving north on West Temple.
“They took his car away, they gunned him down in cold blood,” Zucca said.
He got emotional, saying he was scared for his life. But he also expressed hope that police will catch the shooter and their accomplice soon.
“You think you’re smart and you’re getting away with the crime, you’re not,” he said, adding, “You will get caught. Eventually, it’ll catch up to you.”
Salt Lake City Police are hoping to find the car Barros drove, describing it as a silver Chevy Impala with the Utah license plate “U036VH.”
Police believe that the suspect vehicle is a “white, four-door Honda passenger car with dark tinted windows.”
