Cowabunga Bay to reopen Thursday after severe fire

DRAPER, Utah — Cowabunga Bay is reopening after a fire left the water park temporarily inoperable last weekend.
Draper City Fire Chief Clint Smith told KSL TV that crews were called out to a possible structure fire around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.
“On their arrival, they did find one of their buildings down there that did have a fire up in the attic. It did move through most of the attic space,” he said.

The fire caused between $75,000 and $100,000 in damages, and no cause has been released.
“The park has become a staple in the community and this happened at a most unfortunate time of year. We are so glad we can be back up and running in such a short amount of time,” said park owner Dave Huish.
Cowabunga Bay crews thanked first responders and several companies for their work in helping get the park back to operating conditions.
“Nothing short of a miracle and the hard work of many pulling together is allowing the park to reopen (Thursday),” Huish said.
