Chicken patties recalled due to possible ‘foreign matter contamination’

SALT LAKE CITY — Foster Farms issued a recall on approximately 148,000 pounds of fully cooked, frozen chicken patty products Saturday.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that the patties may be contaminated with some extra materials, particularly hard pieces of clear plastic.
The announcement said the products were produced on Aug. 11, and those subject to recall may include the following label(s):
80-oz. plastic bag packages containing 20 pieces of “CHICKEN PATTIES BREADED CHICKEN BREAST PATTIES WITH RIB MEAT” with best by date “08/11/23,” establishment number “P-33901,” and lot code “3*2223**” in inkjet print on the back edge of the packaging as well as “7527899724” under the barcode.
Items were shipped to Costo distribution centers in Utah and the surrounding states of Arizona, California, Colorado, and Washington.
Consumer complaints reported the plastic pieces in products with a best-by date of Aug. 11, 2023.
Though no injuries have been reported, it is considered a high health risk, as the FSIS believes the pieces could be sharp and cause injury.
