Pilot walks away from Morgan County plane crash

MORGAN COUNTY, Utah — Authorities say a pilot “miraculously” walked away from a plane crash in Morgan County.
Officials with the Mountain Green Fire Protection District said the crash happened Sunday afternoon, near Durst Mountain.
After the aircraft crashed, the pilot walked 6 miles to get cell service and called his son, who called 911.
Emergency crews from Mountain Green and Morgan responded to the crash, along with deputies from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said they used ATV roads to reach the crash site, which was several miles from Cottonwood Canyon Road. Dispatchers helped crews locate the site, and no injuries were reported.
At the site, firefighters assessed the wreckage, disabled the batteries and addressed a fuel leak.
No cause for the crash has been released. Mountain Green Fire Chief Brian Brendel said the flight originated in Idaho and the plane was in great shape.
