Memorial set up for woman killed in Provo hit and run

PROVO, Utah — Yellow ribbons lined a Holladay neighborhood Friday in support of a family who lost a loved one in a hit and run crash in Provo.

“I just wanted to come and pay my respects in the tiny way that I can,” said Leilani Maldonado, a jogger.

A small memorial continued to grow Friday for 21-year-old Isabella Parr, who was killed while jogging Thursday night near 800 North and 850 West in Provo.

Body in Provo identified as jogger killed in hit-and-run

“I know she must have had her whole life ahead of her,” Maldonado said. “She probably had so many things going for her, and just to be cut off like that.”

Provo police say Parr was hit sometime between 5:20 and 5:30 p.m., and that the driver of the vehicle never stopped to check if she was OK.

“The initial caller found Isabella just laying in the road at the time,” said Nick Dupaix with the Provo Police Department.

“It’s hard to hear someone would hit someone and just go like that,” said neighbor Russell Matheson.

Those who live and jog where Parr was killed say they’re heartbroken for Isabella and her family.

“Even though we didn’t know her, there are people who care,” Maldonado said.

They, along with police, hope the driver will come forward with answers.

“If you accidentally hit somebody, you should at least stop, and maybe they could have saved her, you know,” said Craig Bodily, another jogger.

“If you are the driver of the vehicle, you know that you hit poor Isabella. Please come talk to us. Let us help bring this family closure,” Dupaix said.

Provo police were out again Friday evening knocking doors, looking for eyewitnesses and security video.

They told KSL TV they do have one piece of video from a neighbor they’re carefully going through, and if they can get some sort of vehicle description from it, they will share that information with us.

A GoFundMe for Parr can be found here.
