Police urge drivers to observe stop signs after crash in St. George

ST. GEORGE, Utah — The St. George Police Department is urging drivers to use stop signs and make sure the coast is clear before proceeding after a crash occurred Wednesday morning.
The incident happened near 300 South and Bluff Street.
Police said a car blew through a stop sign as it was turning onto Bluff Street from 300 South.
A northbound-moving car swerved in an effort to avoid hitting the stop sign runner and hit a second vehicle, sending it down a small embankment. Police said that car did not roll and no one sustained injuries.
“Because of a selfish choice that someone decided they don’t feel the need to stop at a stop sign, it’s ruined a couple people’s day,” the officer said in a video posted to Facebook Wednesday morning.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
“But it’s a good reminder that you may think that the coast is clear, you may think, ‘there’s nobody coming, so I don’t need to stop.’ Well, that’s not the case, and we just want to encourage you to do that — to make those stops at those stop signs and make sure that the coast is clear.”
