A meetinghouse and temple patron housing will also be built on the grounds.
Church President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to build the Cobán Guatemala Temple in October 2019, making it the third temple to be constructed in Guatemala.
The Okinawa Japan Temple is expected to stand at two-stories tall and encompass approximately 10,000 square feet.
The building will be constructed on a half-acre site located at 7-11, Matsumoto, Okinawa Shi.
Plans also include a temple patron waiting area to be added to an existing meetinghouse.
The Okinawa Japan Temple was officially announced by President Nelson during a session of General Conference in April 2019.
It will be the fourth temple to be built in that country.
