SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Officials with the Eccles Theater announced their first scheduled “live” show since the nationwide shutdown last March.
City leaders and local musicians, including composer/performer Kurt Bestor, said a limited-seating, one-week run of “The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber” will take place at the now empty theater in May.
“Being a year out of performing is nothing I ever want to go through again,” said Bestor after announcing the show that will include local artists.
May 7-15, Lexi Walker, David Osmond, Dallyn Bayles, Tony-Award winner Lisa Hopkins Seegmiller will join Bestor for some of Webber’s best-known songs, including works from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita, Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar.

The shows will have social-distanced seating and will require all audience members to wear masks. In addition, they will clean “high-touch” to ensure the safety of guests.
Members of the arts community said state leaders used money from the CARES act to help the struggling industry and they were very thankful for that support.
Bestor said the shutdown was tougher than he expected and he’s glad to be back on stage.
“Our stages have been silent for too long and this concert is just the thing that our community, our staff need.”
