FARMINGTON, Utah — Three people were killed after a plane crashed on U.S. Forest Service land Sunday evening, according to officials with the Davis County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the Cessna 182 plane crashed between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in a “very remote part of Sessions Mountain,” which is east of Bountiful.
Search and rescue crews located the aircraft with help from the Utah Department of Public Safety’s helicopter and reached the site around 1:30 a.m. Monday.
Crews recovered the victims’ remains Monday morning. Initial reports indicated a pilot and two passengers were on board the single-engine aircraft when it crashed; there were no survivors.
No cause for the crash has been given and the investigation has been turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.
