Avalanche Dangers Considerable, High Across Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Avalanche dangers are high after an overnight storm dumped more snow on backcountry areas.
While the storm had cleared up for most areas along the Wasatch Front, snow was still falling on the benches and canyons Monday morning.
Restrictions are currently in place for many of those canyons, with vehicles required to have chains and/or four-wheel drive before proceeding on the roads.
INTERLODGE is now in effect for the Town of Alta. Going or remaining outside of a building is illegal.

Officials also closed Little Cottonwood Canyon Monday until 8 a.m. for avalanche control, and an interlodge was put into effect at approximately 6:30 a.m. in Alta.
According to the Utah Avalanche Center, avalanche danger is considerable at Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake, Provo, Skyline, Moab and Abajos backcountry areas; and avalanche danger is high in the Uintas.
