SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Residents in the northern parts of Utah woke up to new snow Wednesday, and the resulting conditions could lead to morning commute hassles.

KSL TV’s morning team will be reporting all morning long on weather and traffic to make sure you can get where you’re going safely. Meteorologist Grant Weyman, traffic specialist Haley Smith and news specialist Felicia Martinez are out in full force to bring you the latest.

This article will be updated with new information as it comes in. Refresh for the latest news.

7:19 a.m.

UDOT is reporting icy spots on Legacy Parkway, and snow-covered areas of I-15 from the Idaho state line to Farmington. I-15 is also wet in areas through Salt Lake and into Utah County. Drivers should reduce their speeds.

6:32 a.m.

Both Ogden and Weber school districts will be open today.

In Weber, if parents choose to keep their children home, the kids will have the absence excused and they’ll be allowed to make up homework. In Ogden, students will not be marked tardy during first period due to weather delays.

Ogden School District also noted that some buses may be delayed and parents should monitor their students until the buses arrive.

6:07 a.m.

Traffic specialist Haley Smith is warning drivers in Weber and Davis Counties that drive times could be doubled in some areas, especially on US 89. News specialist Felicia Martinez was in the area providing updates and she noticed several cars had already spun off the roads. Drivers are urged to take it slow this morning.

5:38 a.m.

A winter storm warning is in place for south and central Utah areas. Grant Weyman is reporting that St. George will see snow accumulation by Friday morning.

5:28 a.m.

Highway 80 from South Weber down to the Farmington interchange is seeing double the drive time. Drivers who use this road are encouraged to give themselves plenty of commute time this morning.

UDOT is reporting the roads will likely be affected statewide throughout Wednesday and into Thursday.

5:18 a.m.

UTA is reporting that some bus routes have been placed on snow routing, which means the buses are unable to follow regular routes due to inclement weather.

“If there is a substantial amount of snow or ice on the roads, buses will avoid steep hills in favor of safer routes,” according to UTA.

Route 625 will not service the loop to Benedicts Manor, route 612 will not service the loop in North Ogden, and all routes servicing Weber State will be affected.

5:07 a.m.

Winter driving conditions are reported in Weber and North Davis. Residents should leave early and slow down significantly. Be especially careful of on- and off-ramps, which have the tendency to be especially slick.
