COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah – Several people were transported to the hospital after a late-night crash that left oil and other vehicle liquids spilled on the road.
The crash happened at approximately 11 p.m. in the area of Fort Union Boulevard and Union Park Boulevard.
Lt. Manfred Lassig. watch commander with the Unified Police Department, said a vehicle ran through a red light and collided with a car driving southbound on Union Park Boulevard. The car then spun out and hit a truck.
He said a witness at the scene said the vehicle that drove through the red light did so at a high rate of speed.
“We’ve got decent damage to all three vehicles,” Lassig said.
Three people were injured and were taken to the hospital, and their conditions ranged from fair to poor.
Crews were dispatched to the scene to clean up the spilled liquids.
Police don’t believe impairment was a factor in the crash.
“If you’re behind this 2,000-pound weapon, pay attention to what you’re doing,” Lassig said.
