SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Ogden City Police Department on Wednesday announced a Thursday evening candlelight vigil and Saturday funeral services for fallen officer Nate Lyday.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. at Lindquist Field, 2330 Lincoln Ave., Ogden. It will be followed by a procession to Lindquist’s Memorial Garden’s of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., South Ogden.

The funeral will be for friends, family, public safety personnel, guests and acquaintances only, according to the OCPD.

The public is encouraged to participate in Lyday’s memorial by attending a candlelight vigil planned for Thursday or by lining the route from Lindquist Field to the cemetery.

The rolling vigil will include Lyday’s family, a small procession of OCPD motorcycles and vehicles, and the fallen officer’s police vehicle, which will be memorialized and carried on a flatbed trailer.

We feel your love wrapped around us carrying us through this tragedy. “We want to thank the courageous men and women who put on a uniform and walk out the door every day,” the statement continues. “We recognize the sacrifices made by them and their families, who wait for their safe return. They place their lives on the line without hesitation to protect and serve their communities. Nathan and his wife Ashley have given the ultimate sacrifice.
