90 Cases Of Salmonella Reported In Utah; Outbreak Linked To Onions

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – At least 640 people have been sickened amid a massive recall of onions that could be contaminated with salmonella.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the outbreak has hit 43 states, including Utah, and 85 people across the country have been hospitalized.
Utah has 90 confirmed cases, which is the highest number of cases in the country.
The FDA is recalling onions produced by Thomson International – red, white, yellow and sweet yellow. Authorities are still tracking down all the places the onions were sold.
In Utah, they were sold in Smith’s and Walmart stores across the state.
Officials said anyone who has purchased Thomas International onions, or anyone who isn’t sure where their onions came from, should play it safe and throw them out.
