What To Stream On Apple TV+: ‘Snoopy,’ ‘Ghostwriter’

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – With all the different streaming services available, and with so many program choices on each service, it’s getting harder and harder to know what to watch and where and how to find it.
KSL NewsRadio’s Andy Farnsworth, who hosts the Fan Effect Podcast and covers movies and pop culture for KSL Today, has some streaming recommendations for you and your family so you can spend less time searching and more time watching.
Here are some family-friendly shows worth checking out on Apple TV+.
The Snoopy Show
Andy’s first suggestion is a classic franchise but one that’s been updated for today’s audiences.
It’s Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts gang in a brand-new series called “The Snoopy Show.” The first season, which just came out at the beginning of February, has six half-hour episodes.
“I’ve found the show to be quite funny, great for family watching, and looking gorgeous in high definition,” Andy says.
Each episode has three self-contained stories and is perfect for watching in snippets if you don’t have a lot of time. They’re also perfect for just watching a bunch in a row.
“Seeing Snoopy and Woodstock together again in hilarious situations made me realize that they are essentially the original version of the Minions from ‘Despicable Me,'” Andy says. “They are unintelligible, so the humor is in their actions and the angry or happy or frustrated sounds they make.”
The show is well worth your time, especially if you’re already Charlie Brown fan. But while “The Snoopy Show” is the newest Peanuts animated series on Apple TV, it’s not the only one . There’s also an original series called “Snoopy in Space,” and that one is more like a regular TV show where each of the 12 episodes is a chapter in one long narrative.
Ghostwriter
There’s more than just Charlie Brown on Apple TV+.
“I think your family might also enjoy the show ‘Ghostwriter,'” Andy says.
When a ghost haunts a neighborhood bookstore and starts releasing fictional characters into the real world, four kids must team up to solve an exciting mystery surrounding the ghost’s unfinished business.
The show doesn’t have any actors that you’ll probably recognize, which may deter some people, but it shouldn’t. “Ghostwriter” is a clever and fun show that currently has 14 half-hour episodes available and is safe for ages 7 and older.
The show won an Emmy for Outstanding Children’s or Family Viewing Programming.
One of the drawbacks of Apple TV+ is that it is only available on iPhones, iPads, some smart TVs and streaming devices (including Roku), and on the computer. It’ll cost you $4.99 a month, it has have a 7-day free trial for new subscriptions, and sometimes you can get a longer free trial if you buy certain streaming devices.
