Neighbors Alert Residents To Fire At Kearns Home; No Injuries Reported

KEARNS, Utah — Two people have been displaced after their home in Kearns caught fire.
The blaze broke out near 5800 West and 6000 South around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
Battalion Chief Wade Russell with the Unified Fire Authority said the two residents were inside the home when the fire started, but they were not aware of it.
Luckily, they were able to make it out, thanks to the help of their neighbors who knocked on the door and alerted them of the blaze.
Crews with the UFA, West Valley City Fire Department and West Jordan Fire Department then responded to the scene.
Russell said firefighters saved a kitty inside the home and that the blaze was mostly contained to the attic space.
An estimate of damages was not immediately available.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
