TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — An arrest warrant for homicide has been issued by the Third District Court for a man suspected of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend at her home in Taylorsville.

The man in question is 34-year-old Manuel Omar Burciaga-Perea.

“The warrant is a sealed document, and Taylorsville Police are not releasing any other information at this time to allow the U.S. Marshals Office time to chase down any leads,” read a press release from the Taylorsville Police Department.

Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a home near 2300 West and 5200 South and found an adult woman dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was later identified by family members as 38-year-old Gaby Ramos, a radio host for a local Spanish-language radio station called “La Mas Picosita.”

Family members allege Ramos’ life was tragically cut short by Burciaga-Perea, her ex-fiancé.

Police have been searching for Burciaga-Perea since Sunday.

They believe the 34-year-old might flee to Mexico, but family members think he could also still be hiding out in Utah.

He was last seen:

  • Wearing a black hooded sweater, blue jeans, and brown shoes with white soles
  • Driving a 2000 Chevy full size extended cab truck with Utah license plate: U405MN

“We do believe him to be armed and dangerous based on the violence on the scene,” said Chief Brady Cottam with the TPD.

Anyone with information on Burciaga-Perea’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 or contact the Taylorsville Police Department at 801-840-4000.
